Activities

Start today, don't wait until tomorrow, just take a fast walk or an easy run
I’m closing in on 50, but still childish when it comes to activities.

This will not be a training blog, but hopefully I can inspire someone to try new activities.

I like everything from hiking, running, strength training, sports climbing, rollerblading, alpine skiing, cross country skiing and skating with my kids.

Why do I exercise, ooooh there are so many reasons…

  • Helps your brain to function and remember better
  • A great stress relief and reducing depression
  • Very much needed for your heart and blood vessels, reduces heart disease and strokes
  • It makes you feel much better
  • and more to come

If you don’t believe me, at least listen to the UKs National Health Service

NHS benefits of exercise

30 mins 3 times a week with a little bit of a pulse does a lot for your health, I will recommend a bit more (as they do at NHS above… But start with something and add on as you progress.

Make small steps, walk fast, do some easy strength exercises in a park, in your garden or your living room.

You will never regret a training session, it fees so good when you are done and after a few times when you can improve a little. Ok, maybe one or two you will regret if you over did it and hurt yourself, been there, done that.

I will add a lot more here, but it is not the number one priority, I just want to add it, because it so good for you, you and yes you to…

Climbing
Sports climbing is an excellent sports, really good for strength, coordination and pushing yourself, but yes I know, not for everyone.
I did it quite a lot many years ago and got to a decent level, at least in bouldering, have restarted now, but the forearms haven’t realized it…

It is such a wonderful challenge for both the body and in particular the mind, you really get the chance to push your boundaries on a weekly basis.

Just need to get those keyboard fingers working first, takes a month or two. I suggest to start with indoor as it is easier to get going, I find outdoors quite challenging, but just fantastic on a sunny day
There is a lot of inspirational people out there, I could add Adanm Ondra, but his level is to far out, but still check him out and don’t try to copy Alex Honnold the first week…

Try these two or just search beginner climbing on youtube and you will get a lot of good tips

Magnus Midtbø – fellow Norwegian, climbing all around the world at a high level.
Magnus youtube channel

Hanna Morris – A more bit more normal level climbing and a woman, which is a good way to start looking, as they are better at climbing with the correct technique and using their feets better.
I liked this in particular
